Lin Dan (Chinese: 林丹) (born October 14, 1983, in Longyan (龙岩), Fujian province) is a men's singles badminton player from Fujian, the People's Republic of China. Since 2004, he had been ranked number 1 in the world for two years. As of October 2006, Lin Dan had regained his ranking as No.1 in the world, after a short period of being ranked behind Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia.

Lin played in the 2004 Summer Olympics, where he lost to Ronald Susilo of Singapore in the early rounds. He lost to Taufik Hidayat in the singles final of the 2005 World Badminton Championships.

In 2006, Lin won against Bao Chunlai in the finals of the 2006 World Badminton Championships held in Madrid, Spain. In 2005, Lin Dan had defeated Bao in three different Chinese championships: the China Masters, China National Games, and Hong Kong Open.

His girlfriend is Xie Xingfang. Each won their respective singles tournament All England 2006 & 2007 in Birmingham, as well as the 2006 IBF World Championships where Lin defeated his compatriot Bao Chunlai to capture his first World Championship title.
