Gao Ling (Chinese: 高凌, pinyin: Gāo Líng) (born 14 March 1979 in Wuhan, Hubei province) is a female badminton player from the People's Republic of China.

Career

Summer Olympics

2004 Athens

Gao competed for China in badminton at the 2004 Summer Olympics in women's doubles with partner Huang Sui. They had a bye in the first round and defeated Eei Hui Chin and Pei Tty Wong of Malaysia in the second. In the quarterfinals, Gao and Huang beat Ann-Lou Jørgensen and Rikke Olsen of Denmark 15-6, 15-7. They won the semifinal against Zhao Tingting and Wei Yili of China 15-10, 17-14 but lost the final to Zhang Jiewen and Yang Wei, also of China, 7-15, 15-4, 15-8 to win the silver medal. Together with Huang Sui she became the 2006 World Champion in women's doubles.

She also competed in mixed double's with partner Zhang Jun. They had a bye in the first round and defeated Tsai Chia-Hsin and Cheng Wen-Hsing of Chinese Taipei in the second. In the quarterfinals, Gao and Zhang beat Frederik Bergström and Johanna Persson of Sweden 15-3, 15-1 to advance to the semifinals. There, they defeated Jens Eriksen and Mette Schjoldager of Denmark 15-9, 15-5. In the final, they defeated British pair Nathan Robertson and Gail Emms 15-1, 12-15, 15-12 to win the gold medal.

2007

Her most recent medal was in March 2007 at the Yonex All England Open Badminton Championships where she partnered Zheng Bo and defeated British pair Donna Kellogg and Anthony Clark in a 3 game final. After losing the first game 21-16, Gao Ling and Zhang Bo came from behind to win the second game 21-18, eventually winning the overall final with a 21-14 win in the last game.
