Theatre to offer standing tickets

The National Grand Theatre will allocate some room as standing places so that ordinary people can also come into the theatre to enjoy high-class music. This is in line with the original purpose of building the theatre, said people from the National Grand Theatre Project Owner Committee, the Beijing News reported. The theatre is located at the west side of the Great Hall of the People. It will adopt a cheap pricing system. Based on the size of its rooms, several to several dozens of standing places will be provided for the public at different places in the theatre. There is a countdown clock in the theatre, which says that in August 2008, the theatre will kick off service for the Olympic Games; in May 2008, the theatre will hold its debut performance; in early 2008, it will present a trial performance for the New Year Concert; in July 2007, the theather will be put on a trial use; and in May 2007, construction of the theatre will be completed.
