The9, China's top online game developer and operator, has announced today that it will launch a comprehensive test of its 3D Massive Multi-player Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG) "Guild Wars" open to all game players. The tests are scheduled to commence on March 7th of this year. In the meantime a larger activity will be launched in conjunction with the test, snappily titled "free game playing in Internet cafes with capacity of thousands of people in nine major cities." The online game "Guild Wars" was developed by NCSOFT, a Korean online game company. On April 28 of 2006, NCSOFT has released a documentary film "Guild Wars: Factions" to introduce the game. According to the previous 2006 fourth quarter financial report of The9 (released on February 15), "World of Warcraft" has accounted for 99.72% of its total revenue. However, the launch of "Guild Wars" will serve as a reasonable supplement to the structure of its revenue. Moreover, "Guild Wars" is even more likely to become another pillar of The9's revenue although only time will tell about the market's reaction to the game. Trackback(0)
