Pirate DVD shop ordered to pay 25,000 yuan

A Shanghai court yesterday sentenced an illegal DVD shop to compensate 25,000 yuan (US$3,230) in total to three international film producers for infringing upon their interests and rights, local newspapers reported today. Seven film producers -- Columbia Picture Corp, Universal City Studios, 20th Century Fox Film Corp, Paramount Pictures Corp, New Line Productions Inc, Disney Enterprises Inc and Warner Bros Entertainment Inc -- are seeking 3.43 million yuan in compensation from Shanghai Leying Audio Visual Co Ltd, a store that allegedly sells a large number of pirated DVDs.
