International Business Machines opened a software talent training center in Shanghai yesterday, the first of its kind on the Chinese mainland. The center, located in Pudong Zhangjiang High-Tech Park, is a part of a Ministry of Commerce project that plans to spend 100 million yuan (US$12.8 million) a year to encourage 100 multinationals to set up 10 software talent training bases nationwide. Big Blue plans to train about 2,000 employees this year in the first phase of the IBM Software Experimental Base, according to Mark L. Hanny, an IBM vice president who attended yesterday's opening ceremony. IBM will provide training experts, software, open-source codes and big servers for the center as its long-term commitment to Chinese market. Trackback(0)
