Google China has again initiated a new action to enhance its competitive edge in China. Google's Chinese search uses the technology of Chinese Kingsoft, a kind of online dictionary software, to strengthen its function of word translation. This information comes from enet.com.cn, a Chinese IT information and business portal, reported. In fact, Google China already offers the function of translation in search. Its partnership with Chinese Kingsoft, therefore, mainly aims at strengthening its function of Chinese and English word translation for Chinese users. However, such function only applies to the pages on google.cn. Following this partnership, users only need to input a key word in the search column and add the Chinese character of "translation" ( "fy" or "FY") after the key word to easily get explanations of the word provided by the Chinese Kingsoft. The search result through the above means will appear first among the results. Sources say that upon joining with Chinese Kingsoft, the number of Chinese vocabularies on Google has increased from 50,000 to 120,000 and meanwhile the number of English vocabularies has gone up from 110,000 to 450,000. Google China stated that it has been strengthening its cooperative initiatives with Chinese local companies like Chinese Kingsoft Company. In the future, it will make further efforts to engage in such cooperation to make the service more competitive in China's market. Trackback(0)
