Chinese, Turkish mountaineers climb Mount Agri in Turkey

ANKARA, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- A team of Chinese and Turkish mountaineers started their hike to climb Mount Agri on Sunday, the semi-official Anatolia news agency reported.

A Chinese and a Turkish TV channel will shoot the journey of three Chinese and seven Turkish mountaineers who aim at drawing attention to global warming, according to the report.

Chinese mountaineers Wang Shi, A. Wang and Chung Kinman, who were invited by Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry, and seven members of Turkish Search and Rescue Association (AKUT) are expected to complete their hike and start climbing down on March 2 according to weather conditions.

Mount Agri with a height of 5,165 meters is situated in Eastern Anatolia and extends to the Iranian border.
